My skin texture was silky smooth and flawless before foundation application with an added bonus of apricot fragrance. This is a sample size.) This gold-flecked primer promises to illuminate and blur imperfections and it totally passed the test. (Actual retail price detailed below!)Įxcited to add these two products to my little but very precious YSL make-up collection.įull size price: $57.00 (Not pictured. Would I buy them at their original retail price? As a very special Christmas/Birthday gift to myself…YES! As an everyday purchase, maybe not. At first I didn’t even want to open them…they’re so beautiful but I eventually tried them and fell in love. That was my first reaction to the unusually black box waiting for me at my door! So excited to have been able to review and try these products. Have you tried either of them? If so, let me know your thoughts in the comments below.OMG. So it’s a hit and miss review on these two products. I can attest to all the claims it makes (except the 24 hour part!).

This foundation has gone from being a bit iffy to probably my current favourite! It’s not one I’ll reach for on the daily as it’s a bit heavier than I like for work but it’s definitely my new ‘going out’ base. I didn’t look cakey or oily at all and that was without using one of my heavy duty oil control primers. I was out and about all day, in and out of the rain, and by the end of the day it was still looking flawless. My pores weren’t visible, I was matte but not flat, it was medium coverage but I did build up some areas to cover some bigger imperfections. Upon application with a Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge, it looked perfect. I usually use about one and a half pumps for my whole face.Īs I’ve said, I was concerned to begin with that this was a foundation prone to caking on me but at the weekend I gave it a proper test run with a different primer.

The glass bottle is heavy and expensive feeling, with a nice pump which dispenses a good amount of product.

The oil free formula gives matte shine control throughout the day and helps reduce the appearance of pores. It is waterproof and transfer-resistant, with no need to touch up. This foundation is described as giving a flawless matte complexion and claims to last for up to 24 hours (but honestly, who is leaving their foundation on for 24 hours?!). As I first tried this with the YSL foundation, I wasn’t sure which one or if even both were the problem but after some trial and error, I worked out it’s the primer. When I use this primer, my makeup initially looks fine but after a couple of hours my oils take over and things start to cake. But again, as it never dries down or settles into the skin, foundation seems to sit on top. I also think that the slipperiness of it makes foundation glide on nicely on top. I will say it does seem to blur everything and give a luminosity to the skin though. I find it doesn’t sink into my skin at all, it kind of sits on top and doesn’t really dry. It pains me to say this, but this primer falls somewhere in the middle but verging on the latter. I have some primers which are like this that I absolutely love, but I also have some which don’t work well with my oily skin at all. It has a silicone feeling which I find can be hit or miss on my skin. As soon as I bought this, I couldn’t wait to try it. Sounds like it does everything, and it should for almost £30. It also claims to even the look of skin tone, blur pores and fine lines and helps makeup last longer. Have you ever seen such a beautiful bottle of primer? It has actual little gold specks in it which apparently make the primer light infusing. Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Blur Primer | £29.50 | available here Before my brain could catch up, my mouth had asked for one of those to be added to my bag too. I pumped a bit onto my hand and not only was it gorgeously sparkly, it felt silky smooth. Then while the lovely sales assistant was finding it for me, my inner magpie spied the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Blur Primer in all its golden glittery goodness. I headed for the YSL counter and picked out my shade. Jamie Genevieve ( YouTube and Instagram goddess and my number one girl crush) had been raving about the Yves Saint Laurent All Hours foundation for a while and I knew I had to try it. I was feeling spendy with Christmas money and headed into Debenhams with one foundation in my sights.
